We kicked off the new school year with a summer song called “Summertime” by George Gershwin.
“Summertime” is an aria composed in 1934 for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward, the author of the novel Porgy on which the opera was based, although the song is also co-credited to Ira Gershwin by ASCAP. Since then it has been transformed into other styles of music and we are here performing a jazz version of it.
The photo for this post is representing the end of summer which we were celebrating by playing this song at this time of the year.
This winter we had concerts in Daktari, Prulcek and Sputnik. This video has video clips from all concerts – unfortunately, it does not include everyone
